Vivekanandan Kumar

Dr. Kumar is the Associate Dean (Flexible Delivery) and Full Professor of Computing at Thompson Rivers University in Canada. His pioneering research explores AI-driven, human-like cognitive agents designed to engage, mentor, and support learners in educational environments. Dr. Kumar holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan, where he graduated as the top student, and has garnered prestigious research funding from NSERC, SSHRC, and CFI. With a career that spans three continents, including roles in Sri Lanka, New Zealand, India, USA, and Canada, he has over 175 publications contributing to the field of Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED). He is an IEEE Senior Member and an advocate for EDI, humanity+, and global social change through technology.

All faculty, staff, and students are warmly invited to attend SUPER 2026, our annual showcase of undergraduate research in the Faculty of Science.

Join us to explore research ideas and opportunities and to support our student researchers as they share the results of their research. Science students from all areas of Science will be presenting posters from projects completed through Honours, Directed Studies, Undergraduate Research Experience Award Program (UREAP), and other research programs.

SUPER is designed to inspire early-year science students by highlighting what senior students have achieved. First, second, and third-year Science students are encouraged to come discover the many research opportunities available to them throughout their degree.
